You would have to go a long way to match or better the drama that unfolded in Scottish football last season.
Celtic fans went through all the emotions from constant anger to utter jubilation when Callum Osmand was running through on goal and putting the ball into the back of Hearts’ empty net.
Auston Trusty was part of all the madness, and speaking from the United States of America, where he is participating in this summer’s World Cup, he rightfully pointed out how the champions of Scotland ‘flipped the script’ and showed the world that they can ‘chase’, despite ‘being chased’ most of the time.
But during a campaign that had so much emotion, Trusty interestingly claimed that the Celtic Park faithful would have been ‘revitalised’ by what happened, as he told Burgundy Wave’s YouTube channel.

Auston Trusty’s interesting take on Celtic’s 56th title win
“This season showed what Celtic is,” said Trusty. “A lot of times in football, especially fans and organisations that are used to winning all the time, in the history of Celtic, they have had a great formula to have this success year by year.
“When that formula gets messed with, you can kind of have different results. The main view of the season is a negative for Celtic. But also, it was so positive. It showed the true tenacity and willingness of a team and an organisation to find a way to win.
“Celtic is a winning culture. That’s why you go there. The entire season, I knew we were going to win. We all knew we were going to win. We had ups and downs. Some things were in our control, and some things were out of our control.
“Along with that, the winning mentality shows so much. Sometimes teams are in front or doing well at that time; it’s a lot easier to be the chasers than to be chased. We are so used to being chased, so they flipped the script and showed that we can win the league by 20 billion points if we want to or if we need to chase the league, and show ourself, we can do that ourselves as well.
“I think that season revitalised a lot of Celtic fans. Their love for the sport and their love for the team. But it actually created new fans within the game. The Celtic area and around the world who watch that sport, because the league was very interesting this year.”

Trusty needs to read the room with Celtic fans
There were a lot of protests from Celtic fans towards the board last season, and it was only put on hold for the post-split fixtures because of Martin O’Neill.
Without Celtic’s legendary coach, everyone wouldn’t have come together, and the team would have ended the campaign trophyless.
But O’Neill is simply papering over the cracks and the glaring issues that are still on show in Glasgow.
The 2026 summer transfer window has been open for several weeks, yet no new faces have arrived, and it doesn’t seem like anything will move anytime soon.
The club also took an age to re-appoint O’Neill, then you had the negative and unwanted noise around his backroom staff.
You also have the situation with Marcelo Saracchi. The left-back wants to return, Boca Juniors want him gone and Celtic want him back.
The delay? The Hoops don’t want to put ‘£1.5 million’ down for his talents, and instead, want him on a loan deal again. Penny-pinching at its best from those in the Parkhead boardroom.
Yes, last season’s title win was one of the best and most dramatic that many fans have ever witnessed.
But fans haven’t been ‘revitalised’ like Trusty thinks they have been. That’s where he needs to read the room.
