The days of Ange Postecoglou managing Celtic seem like a distant memory now that Brendan Rodgers almost has a full season under his belt.
The Australian was well-loved by the Celtic fans for his exciting and relentless style of attacking football over his two seasons at the club.
However, those days are gone and Celtic have at times looked like a shadow of that side that swept up five trophies out of six.
But it seems that not all of Postecoglou’s tactics travelled to Spurs with him as BBC pundit, Billy Dodds, shared one off-field one that was all too familiar with the Celtic fans back in play against St Johnstone yesterday.
Dodds said [BBC], “They’ve got the multi-ball system. They’re trying to keep up the pace.
“The ball girls, ball boys playing their part in just getting the ball to Celtic, getting the throw-ins nice and quick, just trying to keep the tempo up.”
This was a tactic deployed by Postecoglou as part of his ‘We never stop’ mantra. It helped keep the pressure on his opponents by not allowing them to take a breather whenever the ball went out of play.

And it was very effective too. The number of times teams ran out of energy because of Celtic’s relentlessness was key in helping to wrestle not only the title back from Ibrox but to also tie up a record-breaking eighth domestic treble.
The fact that this was back in play yesterday backs up Craig Levein‘s comments where he said the Celtic player’s movement was ‘fantastic‘ and that he seemed glad that he wasn’t up against that every week.
As the battle for the title hots up, it seems now that Celtic are intent on taking every game to their opponents. The slow and patient build-up play we have lamented this season seems to have gone as Rodgers looks to have his team back to the style we all loved under Postecoglou.
