‘Best footballer on the pitch’ – Lech Poznan fans love Luis Palma after Celtic loanee scores first goal

Luis Palma is already endearing himself to Lech Poznan supporters after bagging his first goal for the Polish side.

Palma joined Poznan on loan from Celtic after being deemed surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers.

Since then, the Honduran international has adapted to life in Poland well and bagged his first goal for the club in their 1-1 draw with Korona Kielce.

After finding themselves 1-0 down in the 83rd minute, the 25-year-old stepped up to head home from a cross and it’s fair to say that supporters are already in love with him.

Lech Poznan fans react to Luis Palma equaliser

The winger seems to have already got Lech Poznan fans waxing lyrical about his performances in the division, with @Frankie_Gallus saying: “The best footballer on the pitch today, Luis Palma.”

@Dyziov58 added: “It’s clear that Luis Palma came from Celtic: he has that quality he showed in yesterday’s match. He was comfortable in the penalty area and wasn’t afraid to shoot from distance.”

@KKSkotic commented: “Luis Palma single-handedly tried to win the match today and deservedly scored a goal. The player is very great. I will buy his jersey.”

@ojd9389 wrote: “Luis Palma… Lech will have a lot of joy with this player. Genk might be out of reach, but in the league, this guy will outplay many once he gains confidence.”

Luis Palma deserves a fresh chance away from Celtic

Sadly for Celtic and Palma, the move never worked out between each other.

There were certainly times when the Honduras international could’ve been better but after a stop-start few years, it’s good to see him enjoying his football once again.

Palma could join Poznan permanently after they included an option-to-buy deal in his contract and it’s clear that a new environment has done him the world of good.
