Everyone in Scotland is still celebrating qualification to the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
Scotland beat Denmark 4-2 on a night where our very own Kieran Tierney scored an audacious 92nd minute winner in dramatic circumstances.
Tierney and Anthony Ralston were the sole representatives from Celtic in the Scotland squad that night and despite the success, Billy Dodds noticed one similarity between the Hoops and Rangers.
Should Steve Clarke ask Celtic captain Callum McGregor to revoke his Scotland retirement for the 2026 World Cup?
Billy Dodds highlights the lack of Scottish players at Celtic and Rangers
Given the success of Celtic and Rangers over the years, overseas targets have become more common than staying closer to home.
There are currently eight Scottish players in Celtic’s first-team squad but only Tierney and Ralston are the only mainstays in Steve Clarke’s squads.

Rangers have even fewer in their ranks and Dodds thinks that there needs to be more Scottish representation in the two Glasgow clubs.
“At Rangers and Celtic, we need more Scots playing for the first team and also playing for Scotland. We don’t have enough playing for Rangers or Celtic,” he told the Go Radio Football Show.
“It used to be the case where if you if you joined and I was certainly one of them. I mean join the Old Firm you have a better chance and you get kind of automatically straight in.”
Three Scottish players that would be ready-made for Celtic
Following Dodds’ claims about the lack of Scottish players in the squad, 67 Hail Hail has taken it upon ourselves to scout out the next ready-made talent that could come into the side, and also compete for a national team spot.
Kieron Bowie of Hibernian is the standout candidate for this role. Bowie has been linked with Celtic in the past and has played regularly this season, scoring four goals in 19 games this season. He may not be an out-and-out number nine, but could certainly do a job out wide.
David Watson has also been tipped to join Celtic and a move from Kilmarnock could well accelerate that transition from the U21s into the senior squad. With Callum McGregor not getting any younger, Watson is ready to step into the role.

Finally, left-back Josh Doig is enjoying his time in Italy but a return to Scotland may help him force himself into national team contention.
Tierney is still the first choice but Marcelo Saracchi’s loan may not be extended, meaning that a slot would open up.
Doig is a natural left-back too, meaning that Tierney could theoretically move into a centre-back role if needed.
