Celtic’s next fixture is probably the most highly anticipated game of the season for the Parkhead support.

The 3pm Saturday kick-off signals the end of a dour international break as Celtic aim to put daylight between them and Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

And whilst The Dons may well be confident of getting a result at Celtic Park, Billy Dodds has sent the Pittodrie club a sobering reminder of what could await them in Glasgow this weekend.

Dodds reminds Aberdeen of heavy Celtic Park losses

Billy Dodds last faced Celtic in the 2023 Scottish Cup final after Ange Postecoglou sealed an historic treble before leaving Glasgow for London.

And as Jimmy Thelin brings his resurgent Aberdeen side to Glasgow, Dodds reminds the Swede of the heavy beatings his club took at the hands of the Glasgow giants.

Dodds told the Press & Journal, “This is the ultimate test, you are playing the champions away from home.

“It’s a test for any team going to Celtic Park whether it is a Scottish club or on a European night.

“I know they were hammered in Dortmund but if you send any team to Celtic Park it is a massive test. It will be a test for Aberdeen but one they should embrace and go and enjoy the challenge.

Aberdeen have lost heavily there [at Celtic] a few times in the last couple of years but I would hope the players go there knowing there is no pressure on them.

“Yes, teams are looking at them and people are talking about whether they can keep it going.

“But I’d rather be going there in good form full of belief than struggling in a relegation battle at the bottom of the table.”

Celtic’s record last season vs Aberdeen

Last season, Celtic faced Aberdeen just three times in the league and at Hampden for the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Brendan Rodgers continued his cup tradition of beating the Pittodrie club but didn’t manage a full 100% win record in the league.

The record was as follows:

Scottish Premiership

Scottish Cup

No doubt the Celtic fans will be confident of all three points considering the game is at home but with Aberdeen in great form too this promises to be an exciting fixture full of goals and hopefully another big Celtic win.
