Young Bosun Lawal is enjoying a fruitful loan spell away from Celtic in the English second tier with Fleetwood Town this season.

The Celtic B team player has been a regular pick for Fleetwood boss, Charlie Adam, and his form has earned him rave reviews from his on-loan gaffer.

Unfortunately, Lawal‘s impressive contribution has not been enough to keep Adam’s side out of the relegation zone but with nine games left, Fleetwood still has time to claw back the five-point deficit that would guarantee their safety. [Sky Sports]

Played mainly as a centre-back in the Celtic B team, Lawal has also flourished in midfield for the League One side this season.

In 40 appearances for The Fishermen, Lawal has played in the heart of midfield eleven times which has led to the 20-year-old scoring three goals and creating one assist. [Transfermarkt]

And it is a position that the Irish u21 international believes he can offer Rodgers next season at Celtic.

Bosun Lawal’s goalscoring threat

As well as netting three times from midfield, Lawal has also scored from a right-back position at Fleetwood in the four times he has played that position.

The versatile player has also played centre-back 18 times, left-back once and defensive midfield on three occasions as he proves that he really is a jack of all trades.

But Lawal thinks he can be an effective goalscorer for Celtic next season should the opportunity arise under Rodgers.

Lawal said [Daily Record print edition page 48], “Obviously the plan is to get as many games as I can up until then and go again in pre-season, make an impact hopefully at Celtic.

“They do keep in touch. I speak to the coaches quite a bit and they come to the games sometimes.”

“I do think I can be a goalscorer and a defensive player, just whatever the game requires I can provide.

“That’s how ready I am.”

It certainly looks like Lawal is set to return to Celtic as a more accomplished and confident player and it is little wonder he was attracting the attention of clubs down south prior to his Fleetwood move.

The youngster must be a viable option for Rodgers as the Celtic boss is keen to promote from the Academy.

This is one we will watch really closely over the close season.
