Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will have an ear to the ground regarding the progress of his loanees currently plying their trade elsewhere.
January exits Mikey Johnston, Marco Tilio and Hyeokkyu Kwon are among the most high-profile examples of Bhoys who are beginning to make an impact in their fresh surroundings.
On the same token, Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Bosun Lawal has been in fine form for Fleetwood Town since joining the Sky Bet League One side for the entirety of the campaign last summer.
Undergoing a positional switch, the Dublin-born man has regularly featured as a midfielder at Highbury, registering four goals and an assist in 32 appearances across all competitions [Transfermarkt].
Former Scotland international Charlie Adam is charged with developing Lawal’s talent at Fleetwood Town, and the 38-year-old was extremely complimentary of his abilities in an interview last month.
Speaking after the Irishman scored a 25-yard stunner against Barnsley, Adam stated: “He’s a top talent, but hopefully, with the journey we’re on and the support that we can give him, he goes back to Celtic next season, and he goes and competes for a position because I believe he’s got the right credentials to be a Celtic player.”
Undoubtedly, Rodgers will be keeping tabs on his spell south of the border, though it remains to be seen whether he will be a part of the senior fold next term.
Celtic loanee Bosun Lawal scores stunning double in 4-2 victory
Lawal has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence in his new position and has continued to stake his claim out on loan, scoring twice for Fleetwood Town in their 4-2 victory over Wigan Athletic.
As seen below, the 20-year-old played a one-two on the edge of the area before slamming past Sam Tickle with a powerful volley to open his account on the day.
Just 21 minutes later, Lawal got in on the act again, riding a challenge with some neat footwork before drilling into the bottom right-hand corner from just inside the 18-yard box.
Despite being profiled as a defender at Celtic, the former Watford youth looks to have found a new lease of life further up the pitch.
In light of our own midfield problems, one can’t help but wonder if Lawal would be a useful asset to our engine room during the title run-in.
Nevertheless, we won’t be given the answer to that question at present, signifying fans will need to wait to see if he can make the step up in 2024/25.
