Odin Thiago Holm has given his first interview since signing for Celtic.

The Norwegian midfielder joined from Valerenga on a five-year deal almost two weeks ago.

The 20-year-old had already met new Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers by that stage (Celtic FC) and it appears like the presence of the Celtic boss has already made an impression.

“His CV is very nice,” Holm told Celtic TV. “He’s managed Celtic before, Liverpool, Swansea, Leicester.

“So you get a bit star-struck at first. But I’m really looking forward to working with a manager of that size.

“I don’t think the people in Norway understand how big of a club Celtic is. In Valerenga, a club from the capital, we have 10,000 each game. Here we have 60,000 so it’s a really big step.

“It’s Champions League, you play to win every game. It’s a big club.”

The initial verdict is that Holm said all of the right things in his Celtic media debut, without promising the world.

His answers were relatively short but that is to be expected for a 20-year-old venturing to a new country. Not everyone is Alistair Johnston.

Holm also revealed that he likes to play as a number 8 or number 10 “offensively.”

We do have some pretty good options in those positions but Holm may have the dynamism that some other options don’t.

He is likely to be in training this week and ready to make his own impression on Rodgers.

It’s going to be interesting to watch his progress over pre-season and beyond.
