Odin Thiago Holm has introduced himself to the Celtic support on Instagram this evening after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Bhoys.
Holm has arrived from Valerenga in his native Norway, having been tracked and scouted by the Bhoys for a long time. New boss Brendan Rodgers has already met and spent time with the midfielder ahead of the squad’s official return to Lennoxtown at the start of July.
Speaking on his official Instagram page, modelling the new Celtic away shirt, Holm said: “Happy to sign for this massive club. Can’t wait to see you at Paradise💚🍀”
It has been reported Celtic have paid around £2.5m for his signature, with a 15% sell-on clause included on any future profit from an exit. Given the Bhoys’ transfer model in recent years, making a profit is pretty likely.
Holm is an all-round midfielder and will be immediately competing for a spot in Rodgers’ Celtic midfield alongside Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley, amongst others. There’s strong depth in that area of the pitch but the 20-year-old will fancy making his mark.
He’s already got plenty of experience under his belt for his age, featuring regularly for Valenrenga in the Norwegian top flight over the last couple of years.
Holm could be one of many signings this summer as Rodgers gets his hands on a strong transfer fund and Celtic look to do business on targets already identified by the club’s recruitment team, led by Mark Lawwell.
With the first player already in the door very early, Celtic are clearly on the front foot and keen to put together Rodgers’ squad before tours to Portugal and Asia later this summer.
In other news, Brendan Rodgers sends a message to the Celtic support; interview incoming.
