Brendan Rodgers is having issues at Celtic with the hierarchy right now.
The Celtic manager has been subject to some poor press after a ‘senior member’ at the club made ridiculous claims about Rodgers in the press.
The press brief created a huge swathe of criticism for the Celtic board and proved to be yet another catalyst for the Hoops fan protests that were witnessed at Kilmarnock.
However, it’s a rumour about Rodgers at Liverpool that a former player wants to rubbish as he talks about his time under the Celtic boss at Anfield.

Ex-Liverpool star Fabio Borini rubbishes rift with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers
Fabio Borini joined Liverpool from Roma in 2012 for £10.5m and became Rodgers’ first-ever signing at the Anfield club.
The Italian made just 38 appearances for Liverpool as he struggled to break into Rodgers’ side but Borini has denied that his time at the club was soured because of a rift with the Celtic boss.
Borini told No Tippy Tappy Football, “I wouldn’t say it didn’t end well but I was expecting maybe to play more because I was young and stuff and we had different expectation maybe from each other.
“But that’s football. I mean, I always say football has a short memory. So it happens at the time and then you might meet us again and again and a few years later, it’s no holding back on what happened in a different situation, in a different club, at a different stage of your life because it’s all different, it all evolves.
“So we had the disagreements, but I went to Sunderland on loan because I wanted to play more and I knew I had better players in front of me at Liverpool and I was at a stage where I just wanted to play.
“So that was it. Then I came back and didn’t play as much, which I still wanted to play because I did well at Sunderland before and it is what it is.
“I mean, I’m fine with him if you ask me. So it’s football. It’s nothing like that.”
Brendan Rodgers’ record at Liverpool vs Celtic
Rodgers had varying degrees of success at both Liverpool and Celtic.
So how do his stats match up at both clubs including Rodgers’ two spells at Celtic?
| Brendan Rodgers | Played | Won | Drew | Lost | Points per game | Trophies |
| Liverpool | 166 | 85 | 39 | 42 | 1.77 | 0 |
| Celtic (2016-2019) | 169 | 118 | 25 | 26 | 2.24 | 7 |
| Celtic (2023-present) | 115 | 80 | 18 | 17 | 2.24 | 4 |
Whilst no silverware was won at Liverpool, Rodgers did come close to winning the Premier League had it not been for a slip from, ironically, former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.
