Now that Celtic’s Summer Tour of the USA is over, the attention is likely to focus sharply on the club’s transfer business.
Brendan Rodgers has already spoken about a ‘long meeting’ he has had and that he would expect Celtic to have some new faces at Parkhead before the end of August.
But now that the distraction of the US Tour no longer remains, the Hoops support will be hoping that those signings will come a lot quicker than that.
And Jim Duffy believes that Celtic are about to do just that as he says that Rodgers is about to make a ‘really good signing’ soon.
Paulo Bernardo will return to Celtic a ‘better player’
The Portuguese midfielder had a great season on loan at Celtic as he helped tie up a league and Scottish Cup double.
With an agreement said to have been reached between Celtic and Benfica to bring Bernardo back to Paradise permanently, Duffy has hailed the news as a ‘terrific’ piece of business.
Duffy said [Superscorboard], “Three and a half million sounds like a great piece of business. He’s been at Celtic, he knows what the club’s about, he knows what it’s like to win a title, he knows the manager, he knows the rest of the players, the expectations of the fans, the style of football, all these things.
“He’s aware of all the Scottish grounds now so there’s no surprises to him, so he will be a better player next year for Celtic.
“I think last year was a bit of a learning curve for him in a lot of things, picking up the language, the style, the culture, everything about it.
“So I think that is a terrific signing for Celtic, Paulo Bernardo, and I think he will be a really good signing, a really good option and whether Matt O’Riley stays or doesn’t stay, I think it’s great business from Celtic’s perspective.”

I think almost every Celtic fan would love to see the return of Bernardo after his exploits for the club last season.
Bernardo has proven that he can deliver the goods in high-pressure games not only in Scotland but also in the Champions League.
And if Celtic can deliver this signing soon, it will go al long way to alleviate the Celtic fan’s nerves as they start to get twitchy about the lack of summer signings coming into the club.
