Celtic have a squad brimming with confidence right now.

The Hoops are running rampant at the top of the Scottish Premiership and in the knockout playoff spot in the Champions League where they will face Bayern Munich.

Their most recent outing came in a 6-0 mauling of Dundee where even without a striker replacement for Kyogo arriving on deadline day, they still put on a scoring masterclass.

Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels both hit doubles while Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn notched the other two.

Rodgers praised Celtic’s star with ‘lovely arrogance’

But it was another player who earned plaudits from manager Brendan Rodgers for his showing.

New signing Jota cried happy tears against Motherwell on his re-debut when he scored and he provided a stunning assist for one of the goals at home to the Dees in midweek’s rescheduled clash.

That left Rodgers with plenty to say about the Portuguese winger who has a “lovely arrogance” about the way he manipulates the ball.

His trickery was also praised by the Irishman and the boss revealed he is a big fan of the 25-year-old’s work on the football pitch.

He also hinted that Jota will be a massive player for the club in his second stint.

What Brendan Rodgers said about Jota after Dundee romp

“I’d obviously seen him before from the outside looking in, and then I’ve seen him train and work,” the manager said at full-time.

“But he’s a big player, so I can’t wait for him to get up to the level in terms of that football fitness.

“He’s missed a lot of football, hasn’t played a great deal, but he’s a class act, how he takes the ball. He has a lovely arrogance with the ball.

“But like you say, he’s effective. He doesn’t just look a good player, he is a good player. He can beat people and make a pass, make a cross, make a shot.

“He’s a big talent.”
