As the furore of Celtic dropping more points in the title race continues this week, the fans are still scratching their heads as to how a season can unravel so quickly.
Brendan Rodgers and his team have blown an eight-point lead to now being two behind Rangers in the title race and is now being heavily criticised for that.
But what is more alarming is the performances that have accompanied the results. For too long now we have watched a Celtic side toil and grind out these kinds of poor results with nervous displays that have been all too familiar this season.
Earlier in the season, Rodgers told how he went ballistic at his team after a poor first half against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. So you would have to wonder what he said to the players after shambles, right?
Brendan Rodgers gets honest inside the Celtic dressing room
The Celtic manager has shared a conversation he had with the Celtic players immediately after dropping two points against Kilmarnock and it was fairly uninspiring stuff.
Rodgers said [Superscoreboard], “I feel for the supporters. I said to the players afterwards that there are kids that have travelled all around the country and also from Ireland and everywhere to come and see their heroes and dream of being them one day.
“That won’t inspire them, for sure. It just wasn’t anywhere near the level that we would want sadly, so we have to accept that.”
Listen, I get what Rodgers is trying to do here. He’s pulling at the players’ heartstrings to try and inspire some sort of reaction from his team but surely a reading of the riot act was needed here?

From the players seriously lacking in ideas to the defending of the equaliser, there was much more the Celtic manager could have said to that group of players that could have evoked a better reaction.
A few home-truths to some of them wouldn’t have gone amiss. We shall see come Sunday if Rodgers’ words have had any kind of reaction.
Nothing more than a convincing win will do for the Celtic support who have just about run out of patience with what they have witnessed from their team this season.
