Brendan Rodgers teases Celtic rotation vs Kilmarnock as injured star ‘fully back’

Brendan Rodgers is a fan of rotation at Celtic considering the hefty schedule.

The manager has not been shy in making changes to his Hoops XI on matchdays with big decisions being made.

Midfield in particular has been chopped and changed a lot by the boss with such a stacked roster of players in that position.

At centre-half, too, there have been tweaks with Auston Trusty and Liam Scales coming and going while Cameron Carter-Vickers has come through injuries this season which has also warranted swaps.

This evening’s clash with Kilmarnock is no different for Rodgers despite it being in the Scottish Cup and he has already teased that he will make changes from the side which drew 3-3 with Dundee in midweek.

Brendan Rodgers will make Celtic changes vs Kilmarnock

Asked about his plans to rotate for the cup tie, Rodgers said: “Well, we would do that anyway, but of course, it’s a tough opponent that we’re playing, so we’re very mindful of that.

“And obviously, Derek (McInnes) and his team, they’ve had a good rest over this period as well.

“It’s the start of a competition that this club is synonymous with, and we’re very excited by that.

“We’ve got an extra little bit of recovery, having played on Tuesday night. So, yes, everyone fit and ready and available for a tough game.”

James Forrest remains the only player out of action with Nicolas Kuhn returning at Dens Park.

Daizen Maeda is back fit for Celtic

Daizen Maeda was also out of action at Dundee as well as against Ross County but now Rodgers has explained how the Japanese buzzbomb is back and ready should he be picked for the squad.

“Yes, he’s fully ready to go if we need him,” the Irishman added on Daizen.

“I think for him, it probably felt more like a little circuit breaker for him, as opposed to a long injury. It was just something that hasn’t been out for so long. So, just watching him in training this week, he’s looked good.

“He’s ready and available to start if we need that.”
