Celtic hammered Dundee last night to go 13 points clear in the title ‘race’.

The Hoops enjoyed a mammoth 6-0 victory over their opponents at Parkhead as they effectively silenced fan doubts regarding their failure to sign a striker on deadline day.

Daizen Maeda bagged a double as did Arne Engels while Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn finished off the scoring to earn a resounding three points and push Rangers further back where they belong in the Scottish Premiership table.

For manager Brendan Rodgers it was a further sign that his side are in the right place at the moment but it also had BBC man Jonathan Sutherland “worrying” for the rest of the division.

Celtic ‘can’t complain’ about the season so far

Maeda in particular shone and “frightened” Lee Miller with his quality, so it was an all-round magnificent showing to take Celts back 13 ahead.

Rodgers explained at full-time how neither he nor the club can complain about how their campaign has gone so far as they are romping towards the league trophy.

The Premier Sports Cup is already in the bag and even some of a Gers persuasion have admitted defeat in the league.

But the manager has demanded his players continue with the same intensity to avoid complacency and make sure they get over the line comfortably – as they should.

What Brendan Rodgers said about Celtic hammering Dundee

“Yeah well, we can’t complain because I think until this moment now we’ve had an absolutely outstanding season,” Rodgers said.

“13 games left, 13 points clear and a big goal difference which is always worth a point in itself.

“But I’ve always said it’s really narrowing the focus at this point in the season.

“Keep your hunger, your humility and keep thinking about performance and that was the message this evening, it’s about winning and we know that.

“It’s about performing and when we perform we can play well and win games, so we’re in a good place.

“The modern day coach is about the next game so we’ll get ready now for Raith Rovers.”
