Brendan Rodgers is yet to make a definitive decision over his Celtic future, 67 Hail Hail can reveal.

The Celtic manager returned to Parkhead for a second spell in June 2023 and put pen to paper on a three-year contract.

No extension has been signed since and he is scheduled to leave the club in the summer of 2026 at this moment in time.

Rodgers has been pressed on his contract a number of times already this season given he is now in his final year.

He has explicitly expressed that he will not leave Celtic before his deal expires, but has told reporters that there’s been no new contract updates.

Brendan Rodgers update on future as Celtic boss

Now, our man on the inside Graeme Bailey has exclusively told 67 Hail Hail that Rodgers is still making his mind up on whether to stay at Celtic beyond 2026, or leave next summer.

The Hoops hierarchy want Rodgers to sign a new deal and talks are continuing on that front in the background.

Moreover, Bailey suggests Rangers’ new manager could help steer Rodgers’ path.

He told 67 Hail Hail: “Brendan Rodgers is assessing his options, Celtic want him to stay but likewise they are aware of what is going on in the market.

“Clearly conversations are taking place but they are centred around Rodgers and his future.

“Celtic don’t like to talk about what is going on at Ibrox, but it is going to be fascinating to see what route they (Rangers) go down – will that inspire Rodgers to stay, to go?

“As always, football in Glasgow is fascinating.”

Who is the favourite to become new Rangers boss?

Rangers sacked their head coach Russell Martin on Sunday night after a horrific run of Scottish Premiership results.

They currently sit 8th with just one win from seven and now need a new boss for the fifth time since the end of 2021 when Steven Gerrard left.

Speaking of Gerrard, the Liverpool legend is currently the favourite to make a return to Ibrox, with the 45-year-old currently out of work.

Gerrard won Rangers their only league title since 2011 just four years ago as Celtic imploded during the COVID-19 season.

Would Gerrard’s possible return enthuse Rodgers to sign a contract and ensure Rangers remain second best?
