Celtic captain Callum McGregor has rebuked suggestions that transfer talk will have swayed any of Celtic’s star players this summer.
The 29 year was speaking following the announcement of a book documenting his career so far ‘A Celtic Captain in the Making’, and insisted that he and his teammates are at Celtic for the long-haul.
As reported by Football Scotland, McGregor said: “It’s a good place to be. There’s a lot of players who have just came in to the club and they are just at the start of their journeys here in terms of what they want to achieve.

“We’ve got the Champions League, defending the league title – it’s an exciting time. I wouldn’t imagine anyone would be wanting to go anywhere too quickly.”
McGregor was confident that transfer speculation will have done little to unsettle the Celtic squad, who are geared up to fight on four fronts this season.
“It’s been fine. When the team is doing well there’s bound to be speculation.” He said. “We’ve all been in football long enough to know it’s just speculation until something concrete happens. Then you deal with it when it comes.
“We’ve got a really good environment here in the training ground and on the pitch. Everyone is super close and we’re all working hard together.
“Everyone is in good spirits and focused on the football we are playing. Until something concrete happens it’s not unsettling in the slightest. We’re just getting on with it.”
With a fortnight of the transfer window left, it’s evidence of the good place that Celtic are in at the moment that there will be little concern about any major outgoings.

Although there will likely yet be departures with fringe players short of minutes in the opening fixtures, Celtic will likely look to add to the squad too, with links in the last 24 hours to Rubin Kazan’s Sead Haksabanovic.
Transfer talk will be secondary again on Sunday when the champions take on Hearts in Paradise, as they look to continue their perfect start to the season.
