The hype surrounding Celtic’s trip to Dinamo Zagreb has been pumped up this week the closer the big game edges to kick-off.

Celtic issued a warning ahead of the Champions League tie with the Croatian club to ensure fan safety was adhered to after Hoops supporters were targetted in Zagreb.

The Croatian media hyped up Celtic after they destroyed Ross County last week but it was what they were saying about Dinamo Zagreb that really surprised Hoops hero, Cameron Carter-Vickers.

After being told by Gerry McCulloch that the media ‘noise’ in Croatia surrounded the ‘disarray’ and ‘crisis’ of the Croatian champions the Celtic defender seemed surprised at hearing that.

Carter-Vickers told Celtic TV, “To be honest, I didn’t know what the media saying to be honest.

“For me, it’s pretty easy, I think it’s the same as as every game we play, and really, there’s always noise around the game, but for us, it’s about kind of what happens on the pitch, and that’s kind of our main focus.”

Cameron Carter-Vickers on returning for Celtic vs Dinamo Zagreb

Carter-Vickers missed Celtic’s Champions League fixtures against Atalanta and Borussia Dortmund and here the Hoops defender explains why he’s looking forward to the Zagreb test.

Definitely looking forward to looking forward to it,” Carter-Vickers continued, “Every Champions League game for Celtic is definitely a great occasion to be a part of.

“I’m really looking forward to tomorrow night.”

Celtic know that any positive results cements their hopes of a play-off place but there is so much more at stake if Brendan Rodgers can negotiate a win tonight.

Not only will a seeded play-off place be almost assured, but there is a distinct possibility that Celtic could automatically qualify with a win against Zagreb with Young Boys up next at Celtic Park.

If the Hoops can get another positive result away to Aston Villa, then Champions League history will not only be made by Rodgers, it will be smashed out the park.
