Celtic Women have been linked with what would be an intriguing move to play in England’s Women’s Super League.
The Hoops are currently holders of the Scottish Women’s Premier League having lifted the trophy last season on a dramatic final day.
Elena Sadiku’s side have since played Champions League football against the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea, the latter of whom would be among the weekly opponents if a deal can be struck.
The competition did not go too well for Celts as they finished rock bottom of their group but Sadiku at the time was pleased with elements of their efforts.
The Times reported this week that both Celtic and Rangers have entered “exploratory” and preliminary discussions with the Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL) considering a move to a closed league, like in the USA.
It is being reported by Sky Sports now that neither the SWPL nor the Scottish FA have been approached about the move in any official capacity.

Elena Sadiku breaks silence on Celtic Women WSL plans
But that the league would not back any plans.
Now Hoops manager Sadiku has had her say on the speculation and admitted she’s happy where her side are for the moment.
“I think it’s a tricky question,” she told Sky Sports in the build up to this weekend’s SWPL Cup semi-final with rivals Rangers at SuperSeal.
“We can say competing against Arsenal, Chelsea… it’s a different level.
“I think we’re doing just fine in Scotland right now. We’re competing, and we’re trying to make sure that we are dominating here.
“That’s what we need to focus on right now.”
How Sadiku reacted to playing Chelsea in Champions League
Sadiku spoke back in November after her Celtic squared off with English giants Chelsea and she had “mixed emotions” that night following the harsh 3-0 defeat.
She said: “I think in the first half we defended okay; I think we were too passive and too soft in challenges. I didn’t think we had too much energy or pressure.
“Not only pressure but I felt like there was too few players that wanted to be that extra, you know, but otherwise, in the second half, we came out with more energy, we were more brave, not as passive.
“We tried to go into pressure and I think the most frustrating thing tonight as we concede three goals from set plays.”
