Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has given an incredibly reasonable explanation for a photo that surfaced on Twitter this week.
Although obscured by a pillar, an image surfaced of Ange Postecoglou with Rangers’ sporting director Ross Wilson, and new boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst [Football Scotland]. Of course, this photo caused some shock and consternation amongst sets of both supporters.
What were they discussing? Where did they meet up? Was it planned? So on, and so forth.

It’s not too often, admittedly, you see Celtic and Rangers managers enjoying a cordial relationship these days. In years past, the likes of Tommy Burns and Walter Smith enjoyed cordial relationships beyond the divide. Smith even brought Burns into the Scotland set-up, and are sadly missed by both sets of supporters.
So, in the modern climate, it was quite an incongruous sight. At the absolute best, you wouldn’t be surprised to see Brendan Rodgers and his former player Steven Gerrard meeting up, but so publicly?
However, Ange Postecoglou has given short shrift to the nonsense and speculation. Instead of fanning any flames of gossip, Postecoglou gave a typically blunt explanation.
The Celtic manager said [Herald]: “Well, let me try and explain.
“Husband has morning off and goes for breakfast with his wife in his favourite establishment, bumps into colleague and has a chat. How’s that?!”
Well, then. Mystery over, in typically Postecoglou style.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou makes light work of explaining entirely normal event
Celtic and Rangers managers bumping into each other! Glasgow, truly, is a village.
Ange Postecoglou, for his part, has been spotted out and about in Glasgow plenty of times. From what he says, he’s had nothing but positive experiences in the city, as well he should.
At the end of the day, he’s just a normal man, who happens to be the manager of Celtic Football Club.

Earlier this season, Postecoglou said: “People say you’ve got to be a little bit wary but it’s not in my nature. We go out and about to do the things normal families do. Everyone’s been super kind and super generous.
“You folk don’t understand just how friendly and welcoming you are in comparison to the rest of the world. I’ve been invited to numerous people’s houses who I’ve only just met. It’s been great.”
It wouldn’t be surprising if Ange Postecoglou and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have crossed paths in some way before. Or, if both are nothing but warm and cordial to each other. Postecoglou, in fairness, has resisted any openings to criticise or call out other managers for any particular reason.
It’s been half a season, so that’s good going.
Great to see Postecoglou make short work of this viral Glasgow photo. In the end, it was two colleagues in a sport bumping into each other. Nothing sinister whatsoever.
