Celtic’s title win at Dundee United came at a cost.

Brendan Rodgers watched his team march to their fourth title in a row after Celtic battered Dundee United at Tannadice.

The Scottish Premiership champions where in scintillating form as doubles from Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn added to a Ryan Strain own goal to hammer the Taysiders.

However, the win wasn’t without its cost as Brendan Rodgers saw Celtic hero Jota carried off injured in the first half after falling awkwardly.

And now, it seems, Rodgers and Celtic are bracing themselves on a big update on the extent of the Portuguese winger’s injury.

Jota set to miss start of next season for Celtic

According to The Scottish Sun, Jota could be out for months and even miss the start of next season after his horror injury at Tannadice.

The report states that Rodgers and the Celtic medical team were hoping for good news about the injury on Sunday but it seems that Jota could be out for several months.

That would mean Rodgers will need to negotiate the last Glasgow Derby of the season and the Scottish Cup final without his tricky winger.

Jota’s influence on Celtic’s results since January return

Jota returned to Celtic in the January transfer from Rennes as Kyogo headed in the opposite direction.

Since his return, the Portuguese has had a huge impact at Celtic and has scored some crucial goals and made some vital assists.

Jota’s return was emotional and the script was written after he scored the third goal in Celtic’s win at Motherwell as the winger was visibly emotional at his return to Paradise.

Contracted to 2030, Celtic fans will wish Jota a speedy recovery but take comfort in the fact that they still have years to enjoy their superstar from Portugal.
