Celtic fans made their feelings perfectly clear about Dundee United’s ticket policy last weekend.

Celtic beat Dundee United to win their fourth title in a row and leave Brendan Rodgers on the brink of creating more history at the club.

The Celtic manager was in the thick of the celebrations at full-time as Rodgers partied with the two stands that the travelling Parkhead support filled for the big occassion.

However, the Hoops support were charged a pretty penny after the SPFL hiked the ticket price up to £42 and in response to it, the Celtic fans protested by throwing tangerines and the footballs onto the Tannadice pitch.

And revealing how Rodgers reacted, Michael Stewart shared what the Celtic boss did on the touchline as the tangerines rained down on the pitch.

Brendan Rodgers reacted ‘ironically’ to Celtic fan protest at Dundee United

At the time, Celtic were on the up and taking control of the game after United started the first half brightly.

But as the tangerines were thrown from the stand, it seems Rodgers was none too happy.

Stewart told BBC Radio Scotland, “I was just just going to basically reiterate what you guys were talking there about the tangerines came out the park, it’s clearly been the sort of the shift in the game.

“And ironically, Brendan Rodgers was shaking his head. He wasn’t best pleased when it happened. But it is exactly the moment that Celtic has started to exert themself in the game.

“Because up until that point, Dundee United had started very well, a little bit different from what you would expect normally.

“Brendan Rodgers spoke about the team, defending their box very but Dundee United are playing a lot higher up the park now, in this game, and it’s been pretty good so far from them.”

Chris Sutton backs Celtic supporter action at Dundee United

Whilst Rodgers was left bemused, Celtic hero Chris Sutton backed the supporters but did understand wht the Hoops boss wasn’t best pleased.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Sutton said, “I can understand supporters frustration with that.

“But they are still being launched on and all it will do is drag the game out.

“It just disrupts the rhythm of the game. Dundee Utd have made a positive start and both sets of players could do without this.”

Celtic fans had the last laugh as they watched their heroes batter Dundee United and get some solace in the fact that for the £42 they paid for a ticket, the Bhoys gave them value for their money and more.
