Celtic have dominated the PFA Scotland’s end-of-season award nominations.
Given that Ange Postecoglou‘s side are on track for a domestic treble, it is perhaps no great surprise to see so many of our players included.
But that extends to the Celtic women‘s side as well, with multiple Hoops stars in line for awards.
PFA Scotland have been drip-feeding their end-of-season findings in recent days.
Yesterday, they revealed their Premiership Team of the Year with seven Celtic stars included.
Today, on their Twitter feed, they’ve announced nominees for four awards that concern Celtic. They are as follows:
Premiership Player of the Year – Callum McGregor (Celtic), Reo Hatate (Celtic), Kevin van Veen (Motherwell), Kyogo Furuhashi (Celtic)
Women’s Player of the Year – Amy Gallacher (Celtic), Brogan Hay (Rangers), Caitlin Hayes (Celtic), Jacynta Galabadaarachchi (Celtic)
Men’s Young Player of the Year – Charlie Reilly (Albion Rovers), Liel Abada (Celtic), Malik Tillman (Rangers), Matt O’Riley (Celtic)
Women’s Young Player of the Year – Emma Watson (Rangers), Jacynta Galabadaarachchi (Celtic), Kirsty Maclean (Rangers), Shen Mengyu (Celtic)
So 16 players in total there. Ten of them playing for Celtic. We’ll call that domination.
It’s at this point where you must feel a little sorry for Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The American was overlooked for the final four this time last year (Sky Sports) with Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic joining Craig Gordon and Regan Charles-Cook in the nominations.
Given how imperious CCV has been for us, it’s pretty crazy that he hasn’t even been a contender for the main award in either year.
I guess that’s just the bias that exists in favour of attackers.
The winners will be announced at the PFA’s Awards Dinner on Sunday night.
Kyogo is likely to be the favourite for the Premiership Player of the Year award.
