Two Celtic players were named in the BBC Sport Scotland team of the week, but Auston Trusty was not one of them.

Celtic hammered Kilmarnock 4-0 at the weekend to go seven points behind Hearts and provide some much-needed hope around the ground.

Martin O’Neill has overseen three wins from four games and in that time, helped some of the Hoops stars to rediscover their best form, as proved by their nomination.

Kieran Tierney and Johnny Kenny included in SPFL team of the week

It was no surprise to see that two of the four goalscorers from the win at Parkhead were included in in the team of the week.

Kieran Tierney and Johnny Kenny both in the BBC Sport Scotland XI featured after exceptional performances.

Tierney came off the bench to score his first goal of the season with a stunning low-driven effort from 20-25 yards out.

Kenny, meanwhile, continued his excellent form and scored his fourth goal in as many games to give the Hoops the lead.

The latter in particular has shown some real form, with Kenny earning a late call-up to the Ireland squad in place of Evan Ferguson.

No place for Auston Trusty in team of the week

While Tierney and Kenny played really well, the man of the match on the day, Trusty, wasn’t included.

Since returning to the fold, Trusty has been the difference-maker in the Celtic side and slotted in alongside Liam Scales.

The defender has helped to keep clean sheets in two of the four games under O’Neill and has been named the man of the match in the same number of games too.

He will be expected to start after the international break, where he may earn even more plaudits.
