Celtic finally confirmed their 2024/25 Premiership crown on Saturday.

That’s the team award handed out to the rightful side, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear that Celtic have dominated the nominees for the individual awards that are set to be handed out.

There are three Hoops stars up for the Player of the Year – goalscoring machine Daizen Maeda, captain Callum McGregor, and the tricky winger, Nicolas Kuhn – Dundee’s Simon Murray has also been nominated.

Added to that, the club-record transfer Arne Engels has been nominated for Young Player of the Year, alongside Celtic transfer target Lennon Miller, Rangers’ Hamza Igamane and Hearts’ James Wilson.

So, plenty more prizes for those in green and white colours to pick up before the season is out, and the Celtic Park favourite have made it clear as to what needs to happen.

Celtic fans make Daizen Maeda point after PFA Scotland announces Player of the Year nominees

For the players themselves, being put up for an award such as this is extra special because you have been voted for by your peers.

Celtic are blessed to have many players work wonders for them this season, but the fans made it clear that Maeda has to be the winner.

Before the turn of the year, many felt that Kuhn would win Player of the Year, but it’s fair to say that the man from Japan has now taken over.

@Freewheeler12 thinks there is a clear winner: ‘What’s the point of nominees this season? It’s the incredible man from Japan 🇯🇵 and that’s that.’

@RamboAllan84 also backed Maeda: ‘If @M_daizen_1020 does win this there is something way wrong’.

@Dani1987C another call for the man from Japan: ‘Just give it to Maeda now. Guy has been absolutely outstanding all season and nobody else comes close.’

@ABurningPride a shout for Engels, alongside Maeda: ‘Maeda & Engels by an absolute mile.’

@CelticNoah added: ‘Maeda and Engels both winning’.

@Craig67G also gave Maeda his flowers: ‘Maeda & Miller Hands down’.

@PaulC_1994 is in no doubt: ‘surely it’s gotta be maeda’.

@Jacob16Roy thinks it will be Maeda, but gave Murray his flowers: ‘As a Celtic fan we all know what Maeda is, I would love to see Murray win the accolade though as I think it would be massive for him and in turn for Scotland. I’ve always liked him as a player, His tenacity, His selfless running, His drive, strength and commitment and now goals’.

@LynnedrummLynne continued the theme: ‘Gotta be oor wee Japanese Ninja’.

Maeda’s stats for Celtic this season

Up until 2025, you would argue that Maeda was doing pretty well, but then, Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic, and things changed.

Maeda started playing as that central striker a lot more, and he took his game to heights nobody has seen from the player before in Glasgow.

This just isn’t on the domestic stage, but the all-action forward’s performances in the Champions League, and if you combine that with his pressing, then he has become lethal beyond belief.
