Unless there is a complete and utter breakdown, it seems as though Wilfried Nancy will be Celtic’s new coach.
On Saturday evening, Celtic will host St Mirren in the Premiership, and there is every chance Nancy could be in the dugout in Paisley.
The Daily Record journalists Michael Gannon and Keith Jackson discussed the latest around Celtic’s push for Nancy, and how Dermot Desmond wants everything signed, sealed and delivered ‘by the AGM on Friday.’
It has also been suggested that the deal is ‘90%’ done, and the role Michael Nicholson is playing in bringing the Frenchman to the champions of Scotland.

Dermot Desmond passes over discussions to Michael Nicholson to get Wilfried Nancy deal done
Speaking on Hotline, it was shared by Jackson that ‘nobody else’ is allowed in the room when Desmond is involved in appointing a new coach.
But now, the door has been opened for Nicholson to ‘come into the room’, and get the paperwork done, which proves that Desmond wants the Columbus Crew boss in the famous green and white colours.
Jackson also added that there is a ‘high chance’ Nancy will be in charge for the St Mirren game, which would end Martin O’Neill’s second spell in charge of Celtic.
Michael Gannon: “I know that he had conversations with Celtic officials on Friday night. Desmond and Michael Nicholson were involved. Those conversations are still ongoing. They’ve been happening all weekend. I’m told that it’s very close.
“The plan is to get this done by the AGM on Friday. It’s looking pretty likely. 90% likely, at this moment in time.”
Keith Jackson: “When Dermot Desmond is involved. It’s Dermot, and it’s the other guy. Nobody else gets into the room.
“For Dermot Desmond to then pass the discussions over, and allow Michael Nicholson to come into the room. That basically tells you something. That tells you that Dermot Desmond has decided, ‘yep, I would have him. He will do for me, now Michael, sort out the contract and do the paperwork.’ That’s effectively how it works at Celtic.
“That tells you all you need to know about where Celtic are with this. This is the guy they want, and now it’s left to the paper shufflers to sort it out.
“There is a very high chance of Wilfried Nancy being in Glasgow very early this week to take charge of the team for St Mirren at the weekend.”
This is set to be Nancy’s third management gig, his first in Europe, and his biggest one yet, by some serious distance, after starting at CF Montréal.
As expected, it’s straight into the deep end at Celtic, trying to overthrow current Premiership leaders Hearts, as well as show some life in a currently abject Europa League campaign.
