The Celtic fan protests against the Parkhead board were set to continue in tonight’s Europa League match vs SC Braga.

Much of the Hoops support have been unhappy with the Celtic board for years and after this summer’s antics in the transfer window and in the media, they have had enough.

A seven-question Open Letter to the Parkhead executives from 420 Celtic organisations was largely ignored and now, after three successful protests, the board have reached out.

With less than 24 hours to go until the Celtic Park clash against SC Braga is televised live across the world, it appears that the Parkhead board are keen for tonight’s silent protest not to go ahead.

Silent Celtic fan protest vs SC Braga ‘postponed in good faith’

Late yesterday evening, 67 Hail Hail were made aware of an email that had been sent from the board to the Collective reaching out to organise a meeting with Celtic supporter groups and fan organisations.

The Collective have since released a statement on the communication and, thus far, tonight’s protest has been put on the backburner for now.

The statement posted on X read, “This evening, Celtic fan organisations received an invitation from Celtic FC to attend a meeting with the club on Monday 6th October to discuss ongoing concerns about the running of the club.

“In conjunction with the Celtic Fans Collective, supporter organisations have accepted this invitation. Celtic FC’s representatives will include Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay.

“We welcome the club’s decision to meet and engage directly on the issues raised. However, we remain under no illusions about the scale of change still required at board level.

“As a result of this development, the planned continuation of the “3-match silence” has been postponed, in good faith, in the hope and expectation that supporters will now receive full and honest communication from the club.

“We thank every supporter who has stood behind this campaign and helped bring the Celtic board to the table. Without this unity, it would not have been possible. It highlights the strength and influence of a united Celtic support.

“The Celtic Fans Collective will continue its campaign irrespective of the outcome of this meeting, with the clear aim of securing meaningful, positive change for the betterment of Celtic Football Club and its supporters.”

What Brendan Rodgers said about Celtic fan protest vs SC Braga

And as peace appears to have broken out for now between the board and the fans, what was Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers thinking about the protest before the ceasefire was called?

Rodgers said at Celtic’s Europa League pre-match press conference, “I suppose my message is probably for the longer term, is that hopefully both parties can sit down and respect the differences and find a solution so we can all pull together again.

“Because that’s what’s always key here for Celtic. Until that happens, I need to manage the team, to maximise what we can get out of the team and knowing that the team is very focused on getting the result the club wants.”

Well, it seems Rodgers has got his wish for now. Let’s hope the Celtic board have the answers that the fans are looking for to end this for good.
