The Green Brigade are the latest group to release a statement in response to the disappointment of the summer transfer window.

Celtic were criticised from all angles after only making one signing on deadline day as Sebastian Tounekti joined from Hammarby.

Another group, the Affiliation of Celtic Supporters Clubs, called out CEO Michael Nicholson in a damning statement, highlighting that Brendan Rodgers and Callum McGregor both repeatedly stressed the importance of bringing new faces in.

Throughout all their time as an active supporters’ group, the Green Brigade have been among the most passionate sections of Celtic Park and have now released a statement of their own to address the concerns.

Green Brigade send message to Celtic board

In a post that was shared all across social media, the Green Brigade issued an open letter to the Celtic board with seven key questions for them.

The full statement reads as follows: “After a disastrous transfer window and failure to qualify for the Champions League, Celtic supporters are once again calling for urgent action to address the clear structural problems within the club.

“We demand full transparency from the board regarding its repeated failure to back the manager and reinvest our money into the playing squad.

“We also demand accountability: what course of action will be taken to ensure such a collective failure does not happen again?

“In addition, we highlight once more the club’s lack of a coherent fan engagement strategy, and call for a progressive, innovative approach to working with supporters.”

The statement went on to ask several questions of the Celtic board, most of which centred around the failings of the transfer window.

The open letter continued: “Our questions for Michael Nicholson, Chris McKay, Peter Lawwell and Dermot Desmond are:

“It has now been years since any form of meaningful communication between the Celtic board and supporters. For clarity, this means clear, open and transparent dialogue across representatives and not confined to carefully selected representatives behind closed doors.

“Fans have repeatedly demanded positive engagement and repeatedly been ignored – the time for silence is over.”
