Celtic fans have been debating on TalkingPoints if Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract should be renewed at the end of the season.

67 Hail Hail believe that Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract shouldn’t be renewed following the 32-year-old’s first few months at the club.

After scoring on his debut against Livingston, the midfielder has failed to really make any sort of major impact on the team and our fans have taken to TalkingPoints to debate what the Hoops should do.

Would you extend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract?

Celtic fans are totally split on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future

There are two sides to the argument for most Celtic fans, with some supporters feeling that they should part ways at the end of the season while others believe it is important to have experience in the squad, and that Oxlade-Chamberlain should be given pre-season to prove himself.

The first fan stated: “Depends on his performance in the last 5/6 games. Seems his fitness is there now so it’s only fair to judge at the end of the season. He could be the deciding factor, and let’s hope in a positive way.”

However, this supporter thinks his time is up, saying: “No chance, not good enough and not really had an impact!”

Another said: “Just been a squad player, hasn’t made us any better, dream goal on his first game, hasn’t really done anything since. Probably gets even less game time when Engels comes back, will be on a decent wage as well. Definitely no new contract for me.”

This TalkingPoints user commented: “We can’t just have a team mostly full of projects and mid 20s players with potential. Old heads to guide them even if they are squad players are essential. Offer him a modest wage as a squad player and that’s his whack. Even if it’s another short term deal to see how he is after a pre-season.”

Meanwhile, another added: “Still to be determined. I’ll reserve judgement until the end of the season. He’s done well in spells. But he’s just getting up to speed.”
