The decision to sell Adam Idah continues to spark intense debate among sections of the Celtic media.
Peter Grant made the bold claim that the now-Swansea City striker would have bagged ’20 goals’ had he stayed at Celtic Park this season.
That assertive statement has naturally stirred the pot, igniting a highly divided reaction across the Celtic fanbase after 67 Hail Hail put it out to our TalkingPoints users.
This is what Grant told Go Radio in April: “I tell you what, if Adam Idah was here this season, he would have had 20 goals after the poor start to the season he had.”
There is even more spark to Grant’s opinion because of Celtic’s striker issues this season, and how it has gone horribly wrong under three different managers.
Nonetheless, this is what our TalkingPoints users have had to say about whether Idah would have scored 20 goals, and you can join the debate below…

67 Hail Hail’s TalkingPoints users are divided over Adam Idah
Idah proved himself as a highly decisive figure during his time in Glasgow, and after penning a permanent contract from Norwich City during the summer of 2024, he lasted only 12 months.
Funnily enough, Idah did score 20 in all competitions last season, so it further backs up Grant’s point, and it’s why some of our TP users feel he would have hit the mark again.
One TalkingPoints user, Alexander J. Snare, mentioned Benjamin Nygren’s goals this season and where the champions of Scotland would be without them.
But MikeyColgan was having none of it, as he wanted to know how many goals Idah has scored since leaving. The answer is four, but he has been injured or on the bench for large parts of the season at Swansea.
But another user did counter that argument by mentioning how Idah would have ‘got a lot more chances’ at Celtic, and Swansea are just a ‘mid-table’ side in the Championship.
Nonetheless, here is a list of your comments:
- Alexander J. Snare: ‘Idah divides opinions, but yes, I think he would have probably had 20. Nygren also divides opinion, but he only needs one more to get his 20. Where would we be without his contribution?’
- MikeyColgan: ‘Remind me again how many goals he has notched up since he left?’
- BigChuck1888: ‘He would have got a lot more chances at Celtic, and Swansea are at best a mid-table championship team, so probably gets 1 or 2 chances a game.’
- MikeyColgan: ‘Neither he, Kyogo, nor Kuhn have done anything since leaving. Idah, in particular, was a waste of money.’
- Amir.Mir: ‘Tbf with Idah, he has been injured for the most part since leaving, and the guy in front of him at Swansea is the championship’s top scorer.’
- Callum.Boyle65: ‘He would have scored more goals than the current lot, but I’m not sure he’d have hit 20. Watched him play for Swansea the other week and he spent more time out wide than he did in the box.’
- Jimmelvin1965: ‘Aye, right. It must be good stuff you’re smoking, mate. Have they started putting holograms of barn doors on either side of the goals in SPL matches? No, thought not. Means he wouldn’t score many goals then 🥱.’
- Daniel.Owen: ‘Possibly, just because of how many chances we tend to create. But he still wasn’t the answer long-term.’
