Patience was the name of the game at Celtic Park last night.
Celtic saw off Young Boys 1-0 in the Champions League to nail down a spot in the knockout playoffs for the first time in years.
A Celtic win was always necessary to take the next step and manager Brendan Rodgers was satisfied with his players’ efforts for the full 90 plus in Glasgow.
A top eight spot in the competition for Celtic is still mathematically possible, incredibly, but the boss refused to get carried away after what was an exhausting performance vs YB.
Kyogo had the ball in the net THREE times only to have them all ruled out while Arne Engels missed a penalty in the first-half with a poor effort.
But that didn’t matter in the end.

How fans reacted to Celtic’s win over Young Boys
Sub Adam Idah got on the end of a tremendous Reo Hatate pass towards the final five minutes of the action and he forced a save from Marvin Keller which then cannoned off defender Loris Benito for the winner.
The atmosphere at full-time was sublime and the fans were delighted that their team got the job done under nervy circumstances.
And when they all finally made their way home on supporters’ buses and spent five minutes on their phones to celebrate the victory, thousands flooded their club’s social channels to applaud their squad.
One commented: “Congratulations Celtic! Great performance in this UCL,” as another wrote: “Tremendous, well done Celts.”
Some were honest with their assessments of the action with the squad perhaps not being at their best in the second-half in particular.
But it was relief all round.
One said: “Not pretty but I’ll take it! Win next week and we could get top 8”, as a fellow punter added: “We never do it easy, but we got there. HH Glasgows Green and White”.
One commented: “Made hard work of that in the 2nd half,” as a fourth noted: “Good win however , A lot of work to be done. If we want to compete at this level we need to be much more clinical & take our chances.”
One player was singled out for applause for Celtic
Some were pleased to see Idah get his moment after some difficult matches in front of goal with one laughing: “We’re pretending Idah scored and I don’t mind”.
Others reserved praise for another player in particular.
Hatate had a terrific game and fans let their Japanese midfield talisman know.
One said: “Reo Hatate MOTM. He can frustrate but he was brilliant tonight,” as one commented: “Fair to say Hatate was ON HIS DAY” with fire emojis.
A third added: “Brilliant. Hatate was immense,” as another said: “Hatate sublime.”
