Celtic fans send the Parkhead board a clear message about the Green Brigade ban

Celtic fans have been feeling good about the club since Martin O’Neill started working his magic just five short weeks ago.

Wins against Rangers to reach the Premier Sports Cup final, a 100% win record domestically and a brilliant Celtic win at Feyenoord in the Europa League, O’Neill had brought the smiles back to the Hoops supporters’ faces.

Let’s face it, the way the relationship is with Celtic supporters and the board, smiles are a very rare sight around Parkhead these days.

And just as the club appeared to be moving forward and things were looking up, the Celtic board launched a grenade to cause the fragile harmony to blow up once again with their statement about the Green Brigade.

Why Celtic have increased the Green Brigade ban indefinitely

Celtic originally banned the Green Brigade after an alleged altercation with police and stewards at the Falkirk game in October.

And now, more than four weeks on from that incident, the ban will remain in place indefinitely as Celtic explain the reasons why.

In yet another statement on Celtic’s official website, the club said, “Unfortunately, due to recent safety incidents and developments regarding the Green Brigade, including meetings of the Safety Advisory Group of Glasgow City Council most recently on Friday 28 November, the Club has been left with no option but to:

“The closure and suspension will remain in place until the Club is satisfied that it can engage with the Green Brigade in the safe operation of the rail seating section in line with the Club’s risk assessments and operations plans, which the Club is reviewing in light of recent conduct.”

And the statement has been met with anger, disdain and rage from the vast majority of Celtic supporters. Especially as the Green Brigade contacted Celtic on numerous occasions prior to the ban to discuss safety concerns at the stadium.

Celtic fans send the board a furious Green Brigade message

And as the news digested amongst Celtic supporters that the ban had been extended, a strong message was sent to the Parkhead board.

One of the first simply said:

@JohnMcCabe28 was not messing about when he said, “I’m done after nearly 30 years as a ST holder and 50 following the Club this is my last renewal, this needs cranked up.

“They care not a jot about the support, it actually feels like they are revelling in this as they think they are untouchable. Scunnered with it all now.”

And in response to the strangest part of the statement:

@johnnyXscotland was not fooled by Celtic’s statement and told the board, “So the answer to a small group causing issues is to punish hundreds of innocent supporters, shut down six rows, and potentially bin a third of people’s season tickets.

“£30+ a match gone. No refunds, no credits, just PR spin. Safety? Come on. It’s collective punishment, and everyone can see it.”

Summing up how much of the Celtic support feels, this fan nailed it:

And an outstanding point was made by this Celtic fan as he replied to the statement on X:

And all this just as Celtic are ready to announce Wilfried Nancy. What a shambles this week is turning out to be.
