Celtic make the trip to St Johnstone this weekend for a Saturday night clash under the lights at McDiarmid Park.

Pencilled in for 5.45 pm, the Bhoys will want to claim maximum points and add to the excitement ahead of their travels to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League next Wednesday.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have been in imperious Scottish Premiership form so far, scoring 14 times across their opening five fixtures. Defensively, they are still yet to concede a single league goal and have the chance to surpass a 118-year clean sheet record in Perth.

The home side sacked Craig Levein last week after a run of four straight defeats across all competitions. Interim boss Andy Kirk oversaw a 3-3 draw against Ross County in Dingwall last weekend. Meanwhile, Scott Brown is on their shortlist for the managerial vacancy.

Now, Celtic have found out who is charged with keeping control of proceedings as the Bhoys take on St Johnstone looking to maintain top spot in the league standings.

Officials and VAR confirmed for St Johnstone vs Celtic

With the clash drawing closer, Don Robertson has been appointed as referee for St Johnstone vs Celtic in Perth this weekend [Scottish FA].

Daniel McFarlane and Craig Ferguson are set to run the lines on either side of him, offering assistance regarding any key calls.

Alan Muir has been drafted in as the main VAR operative for the clash. Graeme Leslie will work in conjunction to offer a second pair of eyes if any decisions require further scrutiny on the monitor.

As always, both sets of supporters will hope football is the main talking point at the weekend. Much is at stake for St Johnstone at Celtic, albeit at different ends of the table.

Hopefully, the Bhoys can kick on from their victories over Slovan Bratislava and Falkirk last week by ensuring three points travel down the road in their bread-and-butter league duties.

For those without match tickets, Premier Sports will be showing all the action so fans can tune in to events this Saturday.
