Celtic’s dominance of Scottish football has been unrivalled for much of the last 25 years.
Since 2000, Celtic have swept up trophies lifting 19 Scottish Premiership titles, 12 Scottish Cups and 12 League Cups.
It really is a remarkable record that Rangers have had no real reply to as Celtic remain Scotland’s most successful club.
So when pundit Hugh Keevins was casting his eye over Celtic-bound Callum Osmand, his comments about the Parkhead club having to ‘match’ Rangers seem absolutely bizarre.

Celtic told they must ‘look at bigger players’ than Callum Osmand
Callum Osmand may not be the biggest name on the block when it comes to Celtic replacing Kyogo Furuhashi.
But many supporters will remember the last time Brendan Rodgers signed Moussa Dembele from The Cottagers back in 2016.
Whilst no one knows if Osmand will be as good as the big Frenchman, surely the young striker should be given a chance. Not according to Keevins.
Keevins told Superscoreboard [44m], “On the day that 49ers Enterprises took over at Rangers, I said here that Celtic had to react to whatever they were doing on Rangers’ behalf.
“Rangers are clearly on a different trajectory now. The soap opera years since 2011 are at an end. Now they’ve got serious businessmen running the club, and Celtic have to respond. They have to be proactive and not reactive.
“And I think with respect to young Callum Osmand at Fulham, Celtic have to be looking at bigger players than that for what lies ahead.”
Despite the takeover of Rangers, no one really knows what ‘lies ahead’ right now, least of all the Ibrox club so why would a club who have been so dominant focus that much on nothing that has happened yet?
Hugh Keevins says Celtic ‘do have to match Rangers’
But it seems that this wasn’t the best comment. Keevins then turned his attention to Celtic and Rangers’ transfer business where the pundit appears to believe the Parkhead club should be worried.
Keevins continued, “Arne Engels is, I think, a fine player, good future, but he has to start turning up more often on the bigger occasions. There are many question marks surrounding Nicholas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda, are they staying or are they going or what is going on?
“And Celtic do have to match Rangers. The days of David Murray saying, ‘If Celtic put down a fiver, I’ll put down a tenner’, they’re over because the balance of power has switched the other way.
“Celtic have to make sure that they have a good summer because I have a feeling they are going to need it.”
Are we missing something here? Celtic have already added Kieran Tierney and already the squad looks stronger.
While Celtic look set to lose Greg Taylor, the strength of the first-team squad compared to that across the city is still vastly superior.
Keevins has this all wrong. It’s Rangers who need to match the current Scottish champions because up until now, all the Ibrox club have known is failure after failure, season upon season.
