Celtic hero Chris Sutton can certainly wind Rangers fans up pretty easily, but sometimes, they just don’t help themselves.
It has already been a comical season for Rangers, and after sacking Russell Martin as the manager, there was a lot of talk around Steven Gerrard returning to Ibrox.
But despite meetings over the course of the week and the Teddy Bears getting all excited, it has now been reported by various media outlets that Gerrard has opted against returning to Rangers.
Sometimes, from a Celtic perspective, you can’t help but laugh because Rangers are truly the gift that just keeps on giving.

Celtic hero Chris Sutton reacts to Steven Gerrard rejecting Rangers return
Celtic have dominated on the domestic circuit for nearly two decades, including missing out on a Treble by the kick of a ball last term.
Rangers threw everything they could at the summer transfer window to try and just close the gap, including spending big for Martin, only for it to smack them in their faces and put them in a relegation fight.
When the news broke about Gerrard’s decision, Sutton was quick to share why the former Liverpool midfielder has opted against returning to Scotland.
‘He’s assessed the squad…’ wrote Sutton on social media.
Who will be in Celtic’s own dugout next season?
Whilst Rangers are changing managers without winning anything, Celtic are doing the opposite, and the next change could come next summer.
Brendan Rodgers is out of contract in 2026, and given the relationship between the Celtic manager and the board, it’s obvious there will only be one outcome – and that’s the Irishman leaving.
Ange Postecoglou is under fire at Nottingham Forest, and after getting sacked by Tottenham in the summer, it would be another blow for the Celtic hero if he is booted out of the City Ground.
Just like Rodgers returning for his second spell, Postecoglou is more than welcome back next summer if nothing changes with the current set-up.
