Celtic hero Chris Sutton has loved dishing out verbal putdowns of Rangers.

Whether on social media, your TV screens for Sky Sports, or the radio, Sutton has certainly enjoyed Celtic’s dominance in Scotland.

This included when Barry Ferguson was in interim charge of Rangers up until the end of the season, as the Ibrox club have now turned to Russell Martin as the new man for the job.

Rangers just haven’t been watching Celtic pick up trophy after trophy; they have done it by playing a style of football themselves that has frustrated and annoyed their fans.

Sutton used the word ‘bazball’ to take digs at Ferguson’s style of play on a regular basis, including his continued shots at Philippe Clement, who was sacked back in February.

But the former Celtic man has seemingly had a different take on Martin coming into Rangers.

Russell Martin is the new manager of Rangers

Sutton would have watched Martin on a regular basis in England, including at Southampton, where he earned promotion to the Premier League, before being sacked in December.

The Treble-winner at Celtic interestingly stated on social media that Rangers are now going to ‘try and play some football’.

So, it’s going to be fascinating to see how all of this pans out, as there has only been one regular answer for the past 25 years.

‘Rangers are actually going to try and play some football…’ wrote Sutton.

The Celtic dominance Martin is facing in Glasgow

When it comes to being in the dugout, there is a stark difference between Brendan Rodgers and Martin, so the latter has his work cut out, and beyond.

But this isn’t just a Rodgers thing, but trying to stop Celtic’s trophy-laden run, and how they have continued to eat up the trophies since the turn of the century.

There is a reason why Celtic are Scotland’s most successful club, and it is going to be a hell of a lot, and beyond to stop it any time soon.
