Efe Ambrose is still playing Scottish football, this time outside of the top four.

Ambrose is a cult hero at Celtic and played 168 times for the Hoops over a five-year period.

He reunited with Neil Lennon at Dunfermline last season before leaving to play elsewhere.

The former Nigeria international had been playing for Glasgow United this season, but has now made a somewhat controversial transfer.

Efe Ambrose joins Port Glasgow

Even at the age of 37, the former Hoops defender is still going strong and seems to have no plans to wind down.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Ambrose had left Glasgow United to join their fierce rivals Port Glasgow.

A statement was released on the club’s Facebook page with the centre-back holding up the scarf and smiling.

He could even make his debut against his former club this weekend, with the two teams set to meet on Saturday 6 December.

Port Glasgow play in the West of Scotland Football League.

Efe Ambrose on his time at Celtic

While he may have not been the standout player in his time at Celtic Park, there is a lot of respect for the 37-year-old and the defender is eternally grateful for the platform that the club gave him.

Speaking in 2022, he said: “Being at Celtic put my name up there in football. Everyone in Europe, Africa, the world, they recognise Celtic.

“To play in the Champions League in front of those fans was incredible.”
