Celtic have reportedly been interviewing several managerial candidates this week.

As things stand, Martin O’Neill has vacated the Parkhead dugout after Saturday’s Scottish Cup final win over Dunfermline.

O’Neill’s two interim spells were the reason for Celtic’s league and cup double this season. Should he want it, the job is likely his.

However, with crucial conversations still to be had between him and Dermot Desmond, he isn’t the only man in discussions with Hoops chiefs.

According to Stephen McGowan of The Herald, O’Neill and other candidates are holding discussions with the club this week.

The other contenders remain unnamed, but we can hazard a few guesses.

McGowan himself reported Craig Bellamy as a prominent contender for the role last week, though he would need to be tempted away from his role as Wales manager.

Robbie Keane left Ferencvaros out of the blue on Friday, he has widely been seen as a leading contender due to his pre-existing relationship with Desmond.

In his most recent update on his future, the 74-year-old said: “This has been a surreal experience for me, both times coming back, yeah, and I wouldn’t disagree with you.

“Is it impossible to say no to Celtic? No, I don’t think, no, I don’t think that at all. I don’t.

“I think that if I decided not to come back, or was asked whether I would have the choice or not, no, I don’t think that either. No, I really don’t.

“I’ve come back, answered a sort of a call at the end of it all. It’s exciting what had happened, and it’s over now. We’ve won.

“But it could be conceivable that you would weigh everything up, and even if you were to get an offer, you may well still decide it’s not for you. I could do, I really could do, I could do that, yes.

“I haven’t been offered it, for a start, so I don’t want to pre-empt it.

“I would hope that Dermot, if he did offer me, would give me more than 10 minutes, as he did in October…”
