Celtic hero Mikel Lustig could be set for a new role back in his homeland six years after his Parkhead exit.
Since leaving Celtic, Lustig has kept a fairly low profile as the Hoops hero opted to launch a golf YouTube channel earlier this year.
Lustig has been coaching too as the former Celtic defender took tentative steps by gaining his UEFA B licence to help out Allsvenskan outfit Västerås Sportklubb.
But now, it appears that the former Sweden international, who was famed for being a joker at Celtic, is set to land a prestigious, and rather serious role back in his homeland, as Lustig takes his career to the next step.

Celtic hero Mikel Lustig set for sports director role at Västerås Sportklubb
Lustig appears to be in the running for the sporting director role in Swedish second-tier side Västerås Sportklubb.
Expressen reports that should Kalle Karlsson leave the role for Hammarby, Lustig is in the frame to take over at the club.
VSK are in the midst of restructuring the club and it appears that they see the former Celtic defender as a person of high value to help progress them to the next level.
What Celtic hero Mikel Lustig once said about becoming a head coach
Lustig has never hidden intentions of staying involved in football despite retiring from the game in 2022.
But it seems that becoming a head coach was top of his priorities.
Lustig told Aftonbladet back in 2024, “I help out at VSK’s academy a few times a week. We’ve been running for a few weeks now and it’s been fun.

“Being involved in a club and a football team is where you feel like you’re grounded and can contribute.
“It’s definitely a possibility, but as a head coach, I don’t know.”
