Celtic loanee Liam Scales has certainly been hitting the headlines this week. Not only did he help bring forward Celtic’s title party with his goal in Aberdeen’s 2-0 win over Rangers. He also scored in that match and I’m pretty sure that when he tells the story, he will say that he meant it.
But not only is Scales impressing on the pitch, the defender has also impressed his Aberdeen teammate, Mattie Pollock. On loan from Watford, Pollock reveals how the pair have become close off the pitch.

Pollock said [Aberdeen Live], “Scalesy is class. What a lad, on and off the pitch, he’s a very good mate of mine. He probably doesn’t get the recognition he deserves because he’s been absolutely phenomenal.
“He’s obviously had to go through the rocky spell when the team was conceding goals and then come out the other side, and it shows the character he has to be able to do that, because everyone looks at the defenders first when the goals are going in.
“He’s solid, quick, strong, wins the ball in the air and is good on the ball too. I think he’s the full package and has been very good for us.”
Does Liam Scales have a future at Celtic?
This is a tough one. In his first season at the club, Scales made 13 appearances scoring two goals.
He didn’t do anything wrong in terms of his performances but competing with the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt was always going to be a tall order.

With Stephen Welsh also in the frame and Moritz Jenz being signed on loan, it became pretty clear that he was going to struggle for game time.
Although he is impressing at Aberdeen, Ange Postecoglou has further added to his back line with Yuki Kobayashi so it does seem that although he does have talent, Scales’ time at Celtic may well be over.
