Maik Nawrocki spent several frustrating seasons in the colours of Celtic, so it was no surprise to see him head for the exit door last summer.
German second-tier side Hannover 96 signed Nawrocki on a season-long loan deal, and it has been an interesting campaign for the Celtic defender.
From not making his league debut until October, to impressive performances, injuries and goals, it has been eventful for the 25-year-old, and there could yet be more drama.
On Saturday, Nawrocki marked his return from injury with a goal, but the joy was short-lived as Hannover 96 were held to a 1-1 draw by VfL Bochum, dropping vital points in their desperate push for automatic promotion.

Should Celtic give Maik Nawrocki a chance next season after impressive Hannover loan?

Maik Nawrocki’s stats as Celtic loanee scores again for Hannover 96 against VfL Bochum
If Nawrocki’s side had won, then they would have moved into second place in 2. Bundesliga table, but they blew that chance.
However, from a selfish standpoint, it was another strong display from Celtic’s loaned-out defender, who is making an impression in Germany.
When the Polish star has been fit, he has been a regular under Christian Titz, and there have even been suggestions that Nawrocki is courting interest from Bundesliga sides.
Either way, Nawrocki earned himself a strong rating of just under eight for his performance against Bochum.

One crumb of comfort for Nawrocki…
The one positive for Nawrocki and his teammates is that automatic promotion to Germany’s top-tier is still well and truly on heading into the final game of the season.
SV Elversberg, who are sitting in second place, were beaten 3-1 by Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday, and it means the two sides are still level on points with one to play.
From Celtic’s perspective, promotion for Nawrocki would be a good thing because it increases his value in the transfer market, that’s if the powers that be at Parkhead have any plans to sell him, which you would expect they do.
