Maik Nawrocki has spoken about the possibility of returning to Celtic in the summer after his loan deal with Hannover 96 expires.

Nawrocki has become a key player in Hannover’s promotion push after initially struggling to break into the first-team.

Celtic fans have always felt that Nawrocki has never been given a fair run in the side, especially after seeing how exposed the Hoops backline has been this season.

Hannover have an option to buy the Polish defender, but how would he feel about getting another crack of the whip in Glasgow?

The 25-year-old has two years left on his current contract and after seeing how Gustaf Lagerbielke has fared since leaving the Hoops, there may be concerns that Nawrocki could follow suit.

There will be interest in his services but he hasn’t shut the door on trying to play for Celtic again.

“There are several options for me at the end of the season. I could stay here, go back to Celtic or maybe go somewhere completely different,” he told the Celtic Way.

“This loan move has worked out very well for me.

“I am closer to my family in Bremen too. During my time in Warsaw and at Celtic, we saw each other very rarely. Now it’s only an hour’s drive and I visit more often.

“I really like it in Hannover. The city is incredibly beautiful. I felt comfortable in the team right from the start.

“And the weather is also much better than in Scotland!”

Maik Nawrocki can fund a move for other transfer targets

While Nawrocki didn’t say no to returning to Celtic, his comments suggest that he would prefer to either stay in Germany or relocate somewhere that is closer to home.

Not only is he settled away from the pitch, he is also playing regularly too and therefore increasing his transfer value.
