Scott Brown’s recent departure from Ayr United marks the end of his time managing Celtic academy duo Jude Bonnar and Kyle Ure.

As Celtic toil in the Premiership this season, with problems all over the shop, Bonnar and Ure have been plying their trade in Scotland’s second tier.

Both youngsters were sent to Somerset Park this season to gain vital first-team experience under the guidance of Brown.

But on Monday, Brown was booted out of Ayr after a run of nine games without a win for the promotion hopefuls.

With a change of management now underway for Ayr, it is the perfect time for 67 Hail Hail to look back and evaluate exactly how Celtic’s rising duo, Bonnar and Ure, have performed this season.

Is there a place at Celtic for Scott Brown?

Jude Bonnar’s stats for Ayr this season

Bonnar has one Celtic appearance to his name after making his debut under Brendan Rodgers last season.

The 20-year-old hasn’t played as regularly as he would have liked this term, not playing 90 minutes in the league since December.

The versatile midfielder has mainly played in the middle of the park for the now-departed Brown, including a few appearances out wide and even as a centre-forward, with Sofascore rating his season so far at 6.77.

Kyle Ure’s stats for Ayr this season

When Brown was in the Ayr hotseat, he stated that Ure is a ‘mini Callum McGregor’, which is a massive compliment to the player.

In truth, given Celtic’s struggles in midfield this term, whoever is in the dugout next season, they could do with others taking the pressure off McGregor.

It remains to be seen how much of a chance players like Ure are handed, because given how this season has panned out, you might as well have developed a few of the younger players, because many of the senior stars have been useless.
