Hello and welcome to our live coverage of today’s Scottish League Cup draw, with Celtic due to enter at the last 16 stage.
The Bhoys have a long, successful history in the tournament. The silverware – traditionally won in the first half of the season – has been lifted by Celtic on 21 occasions.
It will again be part of the treble quest for Brendan Rodgers’ team during 2024/25. The squad will be even more motivated to do well after exiting the competition so early against Kilmarnock last year.
With the group stages for the non-European competing Scottish sides now complete, Celtic enter the knockout format of Round 2 onwards.
Follow all the details of today’s draw with our live updates below as we find out who the Bhoys will face in August.
A big Celtic week ahead
Our live draw coverage is short and sweet today but there’s plenty to look forward to over the coming week as Celtic build towards their opening Scottish Premiership fixture against Kilmarnock.
With the constant (forlorn?) hope of an outfield signing or two as well, we’ll be all over the latest updates on everything Celtic via 67 Hail Hail.
Thanks for joining us and goodbye!

The full fixture details will be confirmed by Celtic in the coming days but we know the tie against Hibs will take place at Celtic Park on the weekend of 17th and 18th August.
The match will be broadcast live on Premier Sports – the title sponsor of the tournament.

Celtic played against Hibs three times last season and were unbeaten.
The first match was in October 2023 at Easter Road and it ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw.
Celtic surged to a 4-1 victory at Celtic Park in December thanks to goals from Hyeongyu Oh, Matt O’Riley and Luis Palma.
Adam Idah was the hero in Edinburgh back in February, helping Celtic’s push towards the league title with a late 2-1 victory.

SPFL official Molly Hyde and former Motherwell defender Stephen Craigan will conduct today’s draw.

Motherwell and Partick Thistle is over with the Glasgow side winning the penalty shoot-out bonus point – but there’s nothing to celebrate for them so it’s just polite handshakes all around.
The draw is on its way.

Still waiting
Motherwell are the last team in the draw with a 0-0 result against Partick Thistle.
We’re still waiting on the draw commencing.
They’re going through with the pointless – and rather surreal – formalities of a penalty shoot-out here!
[Link]Brendan Rodgers’ League Cup record

Brendan Rodgers has a strong history in the competition, last season aside.
He won the trophy in three successive campaigns between 2016 and 2018, with the last victory coming via a Ryan Christie goal against Aberdeen at Hampden.
Knowing the manager, he’ll be desperate to add another to his honours list despite doing it all before.
[Link]Celtic’s last League Cup success

Celtic’s last triumph in the Scottish League Cup came in February 2023.
Kyogo Furuhashi was the hero, stunning Rangers with a double at Hampden to win 2-1, with the long-forgotten Alfredo Morelos also on the scoresheet.
It was part of a famous treble during Ange Postecoglou’s reign.

The Quarter Finals will then commence on the weekend of 21st and 22nd September.
Hampden Semi Finals are on the 2nd and 3rd November.
The showcase Final takes place just before Christmas on Sunday 15th December.

Welcome
Good afternoon! I hope you’ve been enjoying the aftermath of last night’s superb win over Chelsea in the USA.
Celtic are returning to Scotland in fine fettle and the Scottish Premiership season is only a week away.
Today we find out the first barrier in the knockout cups. The draw is due to take place directly after the current Motherwell vs Partick Thistle, which has about 20 minutes left at 0-0.
If the Steelmen avoid defeat before the end of 90 minutes they’ll be in the draw with the 15 other teams.
