Celtic are set to be quids in as the SPFL release a statement confirming record turnover in their annual accounts.

The Parkhead club are already cash-rich and it seems that Celtic’s finances are set to receive a further boost as the league’s custodians report record turnover.

Fans know that the prize money available to clubs is a pittance and after Celtic won the Scottish Premiership last season, the pot of cash being paid out is set to increase.

But today, the SPFL has announced record turnover as the governing body surpasses an income total for the first time in their history.

SPFL release statement as Celtic to benefit from £50.4m record income

The SPFL has released a statement this morning as the Scottish League records ‘record’ annual income this year.

For the first time ever, the league has generated over £50m as the SPFL say record payments are set to be made to their member clubs.

The statement from the SPFL website reads, “The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) group has distributed £42 million to clubs, the highest figure in the league’s history, its newly-published annual accounts confirm.

“The accounts reveal total group distributions are up £4.1 million (11%) to £42 million from last year’s £37.9 million.

“SPFL group income totalled £50.4 million, breaking the £50 million threshold for the very first time, whilst fees paid to clubs by the SPFL also increased by £1.4 million to £35.1 million.”

How much money Celtic could get after SPFL post record income

Celtic earned £4.72m in the 2023/24 season for winning the SPFL.

Going on the figures released this morning, this figure will rise after Celtic’s success in both the league and the Premier Sports Cup last season.

With the Parkhead coffers already swollen and Celtic fans upset that not enough money is being invested in the team, the extra cash will be welcomed but will pile more pressure on the Celtic board this morning.
