With the window slamming shut at 11pm BST, Brendan Rodgers is still looking to secure a winger and a forward at the very minimum.

Sebastian Tounekti has teased a move to the Hoops while work is still ongoing to win the battle to sign Kasper Dolberg.

Talks between Anderlecht and Celtic for Dolberg are still in the works, but there is no sign of a deal being close to completion.

Other options need to be considered in the event a deal does break down and there is one striker in the Championship who fits that bill.

Celtic should go in for Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic

With Adam Idah heading to Swansea City, a replacement is needed to avoid the Hoops being left short-changed.

Idah is heading back to the Championship and Celtic should be looking at that division to sign Mihailo Ivanovic from Millwall.

The Serbian striker enjoyed a stellar debut season, scoring 13 goals for the Lions as they just missed out on a play-off spot.

Aged 20, Ivanovic has already played for Serbia’s senior national team and is reported to be valued anywhere between £10-£15m, with Sky Sports suggesting that Millwall want £10m up front and £2m in add-ons.

Celtic’s record transfer fee is £11m for Arne Engels as it stands but that could still be broken.

All the noise around Ivanovic has suggested that he is a top striker and his manager Alex Neil predicts that he will go to the very top.

Speaking in April to The National, he said: “Any 20-year-old that leads the line in the Championship and can get nearly [10 goals], and he’ll get double figures before the end of the season.

“If you do that, that’s an unbelievable season and it won’t be surprising me if people start talking about him. I’ve already seen something the other day talking about the top 10 young talents in Europe – he’s one of them.

“He’s 20 years of age, there are very few strikers at that age that will lead the line at this level and also score goals, so he deserves all the plaudits he gets.”
