Celtic fans will know by the end of today if Kasper Dolberg will be wearing the green and white Hoops this season.

Dolberg has been linked to Celtic ever since the club were locked in talks with Swansea City for striker Adam Idah.

Idah’s Celtic exit looks like it is motoring along nicely as the Parkhead club’s pursuit of Dolberg stutters to its climax on transfer deadline day.

However, Anderlecht dropped their biggest clue yet as to how close Celtic are to signing the 27-year-old striker yesterday and it’s not good news for the Hoops support.

Anderlecht name Celtic-linked Kasper Dolberg in squad vs Union Saint-Gilloise

Just as Adam Idah missed out on Celtic’s matchday squad vs Rangers yesterday, Dolberg should have been left out of Anderlecht’s if the transfer move was even close to being completed.

After Celtic were told they could be signing a ‘lethal’ striker in Dolberg, fans would have been excited to see the club get the move done.

Well, it seems it’s nowhere near that stage after Dolberg was named in the Anderlecht squad to face Union Saint-Gilloise yesterday afternoon.

But it gets worse than that for the Celtic support.

Not only was Dolberg in the squad, Anderlecht boss David Hubert brought him on in the 73rd minute of their 2-0 defeat and his stats were not good.

Dolberg played 17 minutes of the defeat and here is how the Celtic-linked striker fared, according to Fotmob:

Now, playing 17 minutes in a derby game for anyone, is difficult to make any sort of impact so not much can be taken from Dolberg’s cameo.

However, the fact the Dane was named, and then played in the game tells you that any deal to bring him to Celtic is still miles away.
