Celtic will return to Champions League action this month as Brendan Rodgers’ side push towards the knockout stages.

It has been a long time since Celtic were playing European football beyond Christmas, but the revamped Champions League format has worked in the club’s favour.

That’s proven by the performances and the results the champions have produced this season, including improving on the road.

One man who has stood tall for Celtic is Nicolas Kuhn, who hasn’t just been outstanding in Europe, but has probably been the best player overall this term.

From struggling in his opening six months to now proving many people wrong, it has been some journey for Kuhn and he just keeps getting better.

That was further proven on Sunday as he netted a brace during Celtic’s win over St Mirren to take his goals tally to 16 for the campaign in all competitions.

But one of Kuhn’s strikes has been recognised by TNT Sports.

Nicolas Kuhn ranked in the top 20 UEFA Champions goals of 2024

From Liverpool’s all-action forward Mohamed Salah to Real Madrid’s expensive free signing, Kylian Mbappe, Europe has some devastating players and now Kuhn has been recognised alongside them.

TNT Sports presented their top 20 Champions League goals of 2024 and Kuhn’s opening goal against RB Leipzig was listed 19th.

You could argue that he should have been much higher given the importance of the goal and just how beautifully he curled that ball into the bottom corner.

And perhaps a certain Daizen Maeda is also unlucky not to make that list for his thunderous curling effort against Club Brugge.

Kuhn’s stats for Celtic in the Champions League

The longer Kuhn performs in the Champions League, the more his value goes up and he proves to be another gem signing.

Just like Matt O’Riley, Celtic’s recruitment deserves a pat on the back because this is another unknown attacking player that they have got right.

Celtic’s win over RB Leipzig was one of their best displays in Europe and the German picked up the Man of the Match award, with WhoScored rating his performances in the Champions League at 7.25.
