Nicolas Kuhn recognised by UEFA for Celtic masterclass in RB Leipzig win

Nicolas Kuhn put on a show earlier this week as Celtic smashed RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

The German stunned Parkhead with a brilliant curled finish into the top corner to level the action after Christoph Baumgartner had opened the scoring with a header from a corner.

Kuhn then smashed in his second Champions League goal of the evening – and the season – when he made a darting run to ensure he was in the right place at the right time to score from a Greg Taylor cut-back.

The winger, 24, could have had more goals had his composure not perhaps let him down a little bit in the final third with a massive opportunity in the second-half in particular ballooned over the crossbar.

It was Kuhn’s coming out party in Glasgow – despite the German media disrespecting him – to add to an already stellar season where he has chipped in with nine goals and 10 assists in all competitions from just 16 outings.

He has been on fire for Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops and has been like a man possessed in the hunt for strong statistics and improvement from last term.

UEFA Champions League Team of the Week sees Kuhn alongside Viktor Gyokeres

This week, the playmaker was credited with having a magnificent matchday four in the League Phase of the competition as UEFA officially recognised the attacker for his efforts.

Kuhn was named as part of the Champions League Team of the Week alongside some heavy hitters for his performance in Glasgow as Celts beat out the team currently sitting second in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich.

Mike Maignan took the spot between the sticks for his showing for AC Milan away to Real Madrid.

The back four in place was Nahuel Molina (Atletico Madrid), Isak Hien (Atalanta), Thilo Kehrer (Monaco) and Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich).

In midfield was Pierre Lees-Melou of Brest, Malik Tillman (PSV), Luis Diaz (Liverpool) and Kuhn himself.

And in the striker slots were Karim Konate (RB Salzburg) and Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP).
