Celtic teammate urges the club to keep Daizen Maeda at all costs

Daizen Maeda is set to leave this summer, but one Celtic teammate has urged the club to do everything they can to get him to stay.

Maeda looked back to his best with a brace against Falkirk that has put Celtic hot on the tails of Hearts in this title race.

His late return to form could mean that the Hoops may get more money for Maeda in the summer, but keeping the Japan international is something that Viljami Sinisalo thinks should be a priority.

Was that Daizen Maeda’s best performance of the season?

Viljami Sinisalo wants Daizen Maeda to stay

Even the forward admitted that this season hasn’t been up to standards, but what he offers across the 90 minutes in terms of pressing can never be disputed.

Sinisalo sees it first-hand, and has pleaded with the Hoops to try and get the 28-year-old to remain in Glasgow.

“You don’t want to lose players like that,” he told The Herald.

“People like that are big for the changing room and big for the club. I definitely hope he stays.

“You know you’ve done well if Daizen comes up and says ‘well done’ after a game, that’s always a good sign. He’s an amazing man. We are lucky to have him.”

Daizen Maeda is up for the fight

67 Hail Hail fans crowned Maeda as the man of the match for his weekend performance and it seems like he is on a one-man mission to end what could be his final season with a domestic double.

This may be because there is a World Cup coming up in a matter of weeks but if it means that Celtic are crowned champions and win the Scottish Cup, nobody will be complaining.

He is clearly up for the fight in these final five games of the campaign and, in that time, it could persuade him to stay for another season.
